Hydro Jetting: What It Is and How It Works

What-It-Is-and-How-It-Works

Clogs can cause sewer backups and prevent water from draining properly. This can further cause water contamination, foul odors, and damage to the pipe system. Luckily, Pipeshield’s drain cleaning in West Chester, PA is effective against clogs. One of the drain cleaning methods we use is hydro jetting, which can clear out even the most stubborn clogs.

What is Hydro Jetting?

Hydro jetting utilizes highly pressurized water that forces out debris, scum, and mineral buildup from the sewer lines. It is one of the most effective methods to eliminate clogs forming deep in the pipe system.

It’s critical to have a qualified drain cleaning company handle the process

How Does Hydro Jetting Work?

When we carry out our drain cleaning services such as hydro jetting, the first step is to conduct a camera inspection to assess the situation. Next, we connect the ideal nozzle to the hose and push it down the access points. The nozzle has holes around it to effectively spray water to the walls of the sewer line. We set the pressure at about 3000-4000 psi, which is enough to push out any solids and clean out sticky grease. As the nozzle approaches and breaks up the clog, the water loosens the debris and sludge, making it easy for our technicians to whirl around the pipe.

During this time, a lot of wastewater and dirt will splash out the previously clogged drain. Once the hose reaches the end of the pipeline, most of the materials will be out, and the pipe will be ready for phase two hydro jetting. Phase two is where we slowly pull back the hose to force out any leftover debris or grease. We haul out these materials using our vacuum pump and into our vacuum vehicle/tank.

We can also use drain snaking in conjunction with hydro jetting for clogging issues due to tree roots. The result  is a clean sewer line that’ll allow wastewater to flow with ease from your sinks, drains, and toilets.
